Sound Installation for Augmented Bicycle, Light, and Electronics
15.2 Kilometers is both a performance and an installation featuring an automated bicycle accompanied by a custom sound and light design. This scenography of a bicycle in motion takes us on a poetic journey through imaginary landscapes.
The bicycle, much like the train, has always evoked strong sensations of freedom, escape, travel, and vacation. All the poetic images born from these sensations have roots in our childhood: the bicycle is, in essence, a collective memory that each of us carries. Everyone has their own vision, interpretations, and experiences of the “little queen”: the Tour de France, the machine as an extension of the body, urbanism, modernity, the emancipation of women, and more recently, ecology and degrowth. The bicycle—or more specifically, the wheel—also evokes more abstract concepts such as rotation, speed, and energy.
